Air Force One http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0Mer1pAQ84
Narrative Conventions:
The typical plot in these action adventure movies revolves around a team or an individual who has to reach and objective where they are limited by some sort of factor. In Black Hawk down, the US Rangers and Delta Force are only provided with helicopter support instead of AC-130 Gunships, 2012 they are limited to the fact they have to find there own transportation towards the arks, air force one Harrison Ford (the president) is limited by stealth and having no weapons-he must find a tactical advantage to kill the terrorists. The settings are usually extreme, Somalia, the world in destruction, and an airplane with limited fuel. Males are predominant in these films, they represent the strength that it takes to get to an objective. Also, objects such as weapons, aircraft transportation, and even telephones are recurring motifs in these movies.

Narrative Conventions:
Horrors are meant to provide a thrill to its viewers and even sometimes leave them emotionally scared. Although some people don't like them, a lot of people do as well. Horror movies center around usually one idea. This one idea is a driving force for characters to do certain actions that might prompt the viewer to say "NO, don't go in there!" In the Haunting in Connecticut the boy stays in the house when it is burning down and we see all the dead people falling out of the walls and then there ghosts show up (creepy), the strangers the brother of the guy who just got married enters the house looking for him to bring him out of there and his brother ends up shooting him with a shot gun, prom night is when she goes to hide in the closet and the obsessed teach finds her and almost kills her in there. The characters in horror movies always have there life at risk, if not then it just becomes a comedy like humor. Object that is a motif in these films are any sort of weapon. Usually a knife because its scary for an audience to watch a slow and painful death. We sometimes try to relate and wonder as to the horrors. Common setting are usually confined spaces, homes, hotel rooms and anything falling in the category of dark lighting.
War:

Flyboys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zXKaNuXQMI
We Were Soldiers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0yUlbAt8Kk
Narrative Conventions:
War movies obviously revolve around war time, and the wars do vary, but common war movies are World War I and World War II also the war in Vietnam. These movies often are used as ways to impose propaganda on its viewers, it is always an attempt at forcing the people to never forget what happened as how we got to today, through sacrifice. The actors are well picked because it is important to convey the miserable emotions that soldiers felt during times of death. Common objects are any sort of weaponry, men in uniform. Typical situation which is also obvious is that one side is provoked until the brink of war, but more varied situations include scenes where a soldier talks about pride for there country and getting those S.O.B.s! Pearl harbor is a movie about deception, the Americans were innocent and when the war hit them they retaliated towards the japanese that failed to negotiate peace. Flyboys is a group of select people to learn how to fly, they are volunteers and would rather do something with there lives than staying at home being useless. We were soldiers is a movie about being forced to go to a battle that you know you cant win, and all the commanding officer can do is try his hardest to bring the most men home alive. There enemy is always hard to deal with and the soldiers always end up conquering there enemy.
